“I often think of the intersections in our lives, those that are planned, those that occur by chance. I think of how those intersections have the potential to change us, our character, our circumstances, our hopes. I think about how they add to the unfinished story of our lives.”

- Amy Tan

Mike's Movie

Just before school got out in 2006, Mike Bartz learned that he had leukemia. His plans to have the usual exciting summer filled with skateboarding, hanging out with friends, and fishing trips with his family were suddenly replaced with a regimen of visits to the doctor and an intense chemotherapy treatment. Through it all Mike has kept his chin up and he’s watching his life slowly come back to normal. Through his experience, Mike wants to show other children that an ALL/leukemia diagnosis is not the end of the world.  Through the love and support of family and friends, this ordeal is not only survivable but it can be an opportunity to strengthen the bonds that are necessary for life.
